McQueen

So beautiful....I would just buy these gowns to hang up in a glass case inside of my home. I would never wear them!!!! The colors of the tool are dramatic and go really well together.

Enough said....look at the craftsmanship of these gowns. I can't believe he's gone :( He was truely talented...

Dream Hotels

This summer my mom and I plan on staying at Hotel Surrey in New York city. Everytime I see photographs of the hotel I drool and get filled with excitement. I can't wait to stay at this beautiful hotel. Immediately the lobby draws my eye inward with the neutral palette and contemporary art work. The receptionist stations are unique and trendy. The bar is fun and modern with a sexy, dark color palette.

Below is an image of the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York. Here is another hotel that I can't wait to visit. Its fun, origional, bohemian and full of wonder. It's high-end, sexy and young and hip. I love it!

Here is another hotel that I wish I can stay at soon. It's the Whiskey Blue in the W Ft. Lauderdale. The entire hotel was designed by one of my favorite designers Clodagh. I remember last quarter when she came to speak at SCAD and spoke about how she went about designing the largest W hotel in the states. It's fun contemporary, bright and different. Her inspiration was "under the sea"so there are a lot of water features and light installations to resemble coral and other sea life.

Weekend Fun

This weekend I went to this delicious restaurant called Parks Edge. If you are familiar with the Atlanta area, it's really close to Little Five Points. They serve the best brunch ever and bottomless Bellinis and Mimosas. The interior of the space caught my eye more than the food; in good and in bad ways. One thing that I loved was the wall art inside the space, which gave just enough pops of color. The several things that bothered me about the space were the window valences, lighting, and positioning of the seating and tables. The chandeliers were too small for the space and didn't provide that much light. There also was track lighting in the space, but the positioning of the tracks were done all wrong. The window valences were not right color; instead of having a neon-green and orange valence they should have been colored white to brighten up the space. The tables were positioned too close to eachother, which didn't provide enough clearance for the space. This restaurant has a lot of potential. In my opinion, if it were tweaked just a little, it could be made just right.

Pink

This is so my style...Not matching anything AT ALL. I LOVE IT. This space is fun, young and hip. Each piece shown has character and although all the pieces don't necessarily match, the space is still cohesive. From the tufted ottomans, to the zebra print hide rug, this room screams glam!

This year we are seeing alot of honeysuckle a.k.a PINK. Honeysuckle is the 2011 color of the year and we just cant get enough of it! Who doesn't love pink????!

Here is an interior that my idol Kelly Wearstler did. This is an actual room in her house. There are pops of pink in the fabric shown on the chair to the wall finish and wall art.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2011 collection. I love the draping on this dress. This honeysuckle color is popping up in this years spring lines. The image of the model strutting down the runway almost looks as a painting. This image could easily inspire me to design a space.

Fashion

Interior design and Fashion design both go hand in hand. Both design worlds influence each other almost 100% of the time. We see trends of pattern and color combinations in major fashion lines such as in Marchesa, whose 2011 resort line we see has pieces with intricate, beautiful patterns, which I could easily see on a pillow or custom made bedding. The yellow and grey upcoming trend in the interior design world can be seen popping up in the collection as well. The image above shows pieces from the collection. Some are so beautiful that they could stand alone as art pieces.

Yellow and Gray

The new upcoming trend in the design world is the combination of the colors yellow and gray. This odd pair grouped together creates a different, versatile, and sexy atmosphere. It could work in a contemporary and a traditional setting as well.
