Shipping Container Design

Design has come a very long way, and people are coming up with more innovative and cost effective/efficient ways to create livable and functional spaces. The new growing trend is creating spaces out of actual shipping containers. Seen mainly for retail and street vendor businesses, shipping container design has now begun to be used in hospitality as well. Almost resembling lego's, you can stack them, align them and do almost whatever you want with them. This design trend might not be for everyone but I think it's pretty cool. Below are some images I found for inspiration since my final project for my studio 3 project is mainly using shipping containers. It's something a lot of people haven't seen before and I think people should look into it.

Globalization Project/Exhibit Design

Here are some scenes from my sketchup studio III model. It came out amazing and I think it represents and explains globalization well. The main pop of color in the space is red and I think it adds a dramatic/bold affect to the space. The space is super detailed and full of linear lines. It took forever to model and perfect the floor plan but all in all I think it successfully showed through.

DVF

Above is an image of Diane von Furstenburgs spring 2011 collection. It is super sexy and relaxed with bold uses of color and pattern. It also has simple draping with the use of flowing, soft fabrics. What I would do to buy the entire collection? sighhhh :)

Check out these shoes!

My Idol

I love pattern and I love the color yellow. Not only do I like this room, I LOVE this room. Of course it was done by my idiol Kelly Wearstler. She knows how to put together the right type of fabrics with the right color scheme and the right patterns. This bedroom is absolutely gorgeous and my favorite pieces in the space are the tufted headoard and zig zag pattern custom upholstered bench. I also love how the shape of the mirror above the bed reflects the pattern shown on the bench below it. It all flows and works absolutely great together. I want this room!

Sculptural Haute Couture

When I first saw this image I immediately thought it was a sculpture. In all actuality, it pretty much is a sculpture/haute couture. Its absolutely beautiful and when I first looked at it all I could think about were ram horns. I can honestly see using this piece as an art display in someones home or exhibit. Functional art. Pretty cool.

Exhibition Inspiration

These are shipping crates that were converted into affordable housing. These in particular are used as student housing in France. When I first saw this image it immediately made me want to create something similar in my exhibiton space. The fronts of the crates are glass and the exterior of the crates are green. The spaces inside the crates are small but the concept of creating housing out of these crates was genious. I think it's beautiful and I believe that I recreated my own version of these crates and used them as interactive display blocks.

Trade Show's

This is an image of a Trade show in Copenhagen. I love how open the space is. I also love the exposed high ceilings and the use of the stripped down wooden colums placed throught the space. The clothes that are on display really can catch the viewers eye. The cement flooring also gives this industrial space a finishing touch. This space came out really successfully and  I love it.
